Graduation
At the start of your final semester at NC State, you’ll need to apply for graduation through MyPack. If you do not apply for graduation, you do not graduate.
However, in order to do that, here are some steps to complete:
- Schedule a meeting with me to go over your degree audit one last time to make sure there are no surprises and that you will, in fact, be able to graduate at the end of the semester. That way, if we do see surprises, we can take steps to fix them. DO NOT APPLY FOR GRADUATION UNTIL YOU HAVE MET WITH ME FIRST (unless I have directed you to do otherwise).
- Fill out the departmental graduation checklist. You’ll be given this checklist in our meeting and/or emailed it; it will be a smartsheet. Fill out Part 1, then it will bounce to me for approval, and once I’ve approved it, it will come back to you for Part 2 (steps 3-6 below).
- Apply for graduation through MyPack. The link has directions; if you look on the left hand side of the page, you can click “Graduation Application” and that will take you to a link to login to MyPack. Make sure you apply by the deadline, which will change every semester.
- Complete the graduating senior survey. Take a screenshot or printscreen to confirm completion. You’ll submit this to the checklist/smartsheet.
- Submit your writing sample from a 400-level class within the LWR/RPW concentration (though this writing sample stipulation may have changed and now students can submit a writing sample from any class. Follow the directions on the smartsheet checklist.)
- Submit a pre-RSVP for graduation and attendees (on the smartsheet).
- Apply for graduation and submit everything that’s needed to the department (checklist, confirmation of senior survey, and writing sample) at least three days before the deadline. This way, if you accidentally miss something, you have the time to remedy the situation so you can still walk at graduation (Spring graduates can attend the Spring commencement ceremonies, while Summer and Fall graduates can attend the Fall commencement ceremonies).
- Enjoy congratulations all around for completing your studies at NC State!
- Check out this page (created by our other RPW advisor, Dr. Christin Phelps) for what to do once you’ve completed all your degree requirements and successfully applied for graduation.
